A debonair noble with a gravity all his own: Kionchi is a man of many talents and a disturbing amount of charisma. Graced with an articulate bone-structure he stands quite tall for a man of Japanese lineage. And its a good thing that the ivory skinned perfectionist has no need to worry about his own physical beauty; something he would deny in an instant if any were to ask for the secrets of his regime. But truth be told even though he no longer spends a minimum of an hour a day grooming, he still spends far more time preening than your average shinigami.
But the pride of his appearance is neither his lean muscular physique nor his blemishless skin but rather his hair. Combed and brushed and oiled and washed even more frequently than he brushes his teeth the shinigami has gone to great lengths to keep his hair as pristine and he keeps his beauty supplies well hidden. Its usually tied at near the bottom unless he's relaxing. The long black shimmering hair frames a face with soulful wide eyes that so many have dubbed "treacherously innocent" behind the cunning man's back. The long hair is a useful construct he uses to disguise himself in the Gotei, but when masked his "true form" has short hair, cut when he swore to kill his old mentor, The Raven.
Eyes long since covered by a red silk blindfold, only exposed under the rarest of circumstances since he was cursed by Erasmus in Las Noches. The blindfold frequently trails behind him, just a few inches longer than his hair. When revealed, his eyes appear completely black until exposed to light, retreating into an impossibly small pair of pupils that quickly spin off in a multitude of shimmering gold and blue dots resembling a galactic spiral. Both his vision and sanity cannot maintain seeing the world for this long, anything his eyes look at splitting into countless overlapping timelines.
While his default garment is the standard kosode and hakama of the shinigami, Kionchi's wardrobe extends as far as his hobbies but stays close to his Japanese heart. His favorite Hapi coat, worn on festivals or when taken out drinking, is a navy blue affair with a white diamond pattern lining the inside. On the back is the kanji for "Arashi", although he is oblivious as to why. When in a more formal setting he commonly wears a darker blue kimono, the sleeves of which bear the mon of a upward facing crescent moon in which lies an eclipsing star. That same mon is on many of his other formal kimono and the inside of his favorite piece has a painting of a cat chasing a crane over a moonlit mountain at night; although this particular piece he is proud of having acquired, he never displays it unless it needs washing. He is often seen in a white kimono with a blue interior on more casual days. And finally when he expects any kind of violence but is working off duty the young shinigami will come in a formal light lamellar he often wears over a sturdier green kimono over which finally lies a darker greenish-blue piece he again has no memory of having purchased.
His affinity for the blue and green-blue kimono might go back to the jealousy of his brother's position in the shinsengumi. And while fans of the popular police force might recognize it as such, Kionchi only laughs when compared and denies the accusation whole-heartily. That said his clothes have been said to be the most pristine in the Gotei; not a tear or stitch or thread out of place. And to date none can recall having ever seen him spill or stain his robes even in the heat of battle; the blood of even a well-fought foe a mark of imperfection in Kionchi's keen eyes.
He always wears a red leather collar he received as a gift from Cheshire in Las Noches, a reminder that no matter how free he feels he is always choosing to tug against the collar of his rationale or his instinct. Touching it has a bit of a calming effect on the shinigami. He occasionally wore a red silk blindfold that he now keeps as a belt/obi, upon which he keeps a red omamori/charm.
►Body Language, Posture & Presence:
The idea of "on", or "face", is one that used to be crucial to Kionchi until recently. To him the exposure of an emotion was equivalent to drawing ones blade: a last resort that should be considered ones ultimate weapon and only works best when avoided at all costs. Whether its happiness or anger the man may be called severely repressed; but if asked he would merely sigh and explain that his self control is merely another part of his training that he regrets that so many of his fellow shinigami have abandoned.
And while he's still more than able to maintain his “on”, he finds himself more and more recently giving in to his desire to express himself and reveal exactly how he's feeling when its in his best interests. The stick up his ass has been removed, and if he wants to beat you to death with it he won't hold back just because it'd make him look bad.
Even so, he still walks with a smooth but calculated grace whose light-footed forcefulness manages to teeter the line between a march and a dance. Most would get out of his way, and yet while he manages this tougher persona he remains quiet and calm with that special kind of tranquility that reminds most of a sea under which lies a storm that will surface whenever something catches his interest.
His motions in or out of a fight when he's maintaining his old persona are one and the same: careful and deliberate and yet swift and precise. He has a cunning smile that crosses his face only when he feels success is at last within his grasp. On occasion he'll even squint, his expression like a fox, when he figures out a new method by which to test his mettle. Most disturbingly of all is his lack of reaction or even sleight enthusiasm to any kind of self-sacrifice. Whether its wiping his memory or taking a cero the man rarely flinches and approaches the task as though it were merely another chore.
When he's let loose and reveals who he really is? Kionchi takes on an almost bestial stance, commonly using one or even both of his arms to move like a four-legged animal, even during a flash-step. This hunched stance is very much like his “Miskazuki” or “Eclipse” form, but no longer does he need the crutch of Tsukuyomi's absolution in order to accept this darker persona.
Kionchi's own reiatsu comes off as a sharp burning whiteness akin to the reflecting sun shining brightly on a mirror of ice. And yet there is a crisp coldness to it unlike the warm embrace of our guiding star. It is equal parts purifying and terrorizing to behold the efficient expulsion of energy from the shinigami's soul: its translucence and consistency almost a sign of a complete lack of waste in the processing of his own energy.
More terrifying still is the ease by which his aura can change. Since mastering his Soul Resonance technique, Kionchi can with minimal effort change his aura to that of anyone else. The change can unnerve even the spirits of other shinigami's zanpakutou, and during a complete resonance he can even take on physical appearances of other souls he's mimicking.
