Standard Record “Live in a dignified way with nobility, pride, strength, and kindness.” ― Seiji Fuji, Theoretical Modern History
Name: Ahikiko Aizawa, 相澤聡彦 Age / Apparent Age: 123 / 21 Gender: Male Height & Weight: 6’1"/185cm & 185lbs/83kg Hair & Eye Color: Black & black Sexuality: Publicly Heterosexual Languages Known: Japanese [Native], Chinese [Fluent], English [Fluent], Spanish [Learning] Racial Background: Japanese Loyalties: Akihiko's loyalties lie strictly with tradition and his own standing: he aims to restore the old methods of the Shinigami as well as raise his own rank and standing.
Physiology "The human body is the best picture of the human soul." ― Ludwig Wittgenstein
Physical Description Standing proudly at 6 foot 1 inch, Akihiko holds himself to an almost-regal posture. At 180 pounds, he has completely shaved off anything beyond skin, bone, and primarily - muscles. Hidden under his shihakusho is a sturdy frame, fitted with broad shoulders and defined musculature. Despite the packed on muscle, he hasn’t sacrificed any measure of agility. Much like with his philosophy, he endorses balance and moderation - overseen by the royal families, of course, and himself by extension. Due to this, he strictly holds himself to certain restrictions: Diets, workout regimens, and much more. These, along with the other measures he takes to improve himself, alter not only his “physical” body but also his self-perception.
While not so stiff as a board to exude an imposing energy to others, Akihiko carries himself in an almost military fashion. Back taut and straight, head held high, hands either behind the back or at his sides, but despite it all, there seems to be just a modicum of relaxation mixed in. This softer side seems to invite others in, as though it makes him seem more average to them.
Though he secretly admires those who can grow beards, he finds himself utterly incapable of it. Even so, he keeps his face painstakingly manicured. His black hair reaches down to just past his ears and is soft and fluffy to the touch, though few are allowed that honor. Showering every single day, he uses an assortment of shampoos, conditioners, body washes, lotions, and more that are all created using natural ingredients from the forests surrounding the Rukongai. The end result of this perhaps unorthodox self-care programme is a body that is unmistakably well-taken care of, both to others and himself.
His eyes are a simple and plain black. His eyelashes are slightly longer than most and, like every other part of his body, is impeccably well-taken care of. Likewise, his eyebrows are trimmed yet strong with a sharp downturn at their ends.
Simultaneously a testament to his skill, toughness, and inexperience, his body lacks a single scar. His skin is smooth and light colored, completely devoid of any imperfections or markings.
When Akihiko speaks, he does so with a smooth and soft voice. It is rare to catch him speaking in anything but a reassuring tone, which does wonders to make his “regal” persona more approachable.
In terms of combat style, he employs a well-rounded mixture of swordplay, hakuda, kido, and hoho. While he maintains a slight specialization in Hakuda and Kido in order to gain an edge, he makes sure that all his bases are covered with his other skills.
Spiritual Description Akihiko’s Reiatsu is perhaps best thought of as an expression of his heritage. Fluctuating in waves, it rises then falls in a circular nature as though it were eating itself. When it is flowing, it can feel oppressing and heavy. At its ebb, it feels desperate - like hands clawing at his feet. Occasionally though, it calms and rests. In this average period, it feels like a reassuring hand guiding one forward. Color-wise, it appears to be a swirling mix of purple and blue.
Psychology “No one looks in a mirror to see a mirror.” ― Marty Rubin
Positive Traits PRIMARY: Ambitious - Ever since he awakened in Soul Society, Akihiko's primary goal has been to increase his own social standing in a vain attempt to legitimize himself. Beyond this, his ambition stretches to skills, hobbies, and really, anything to give him an edge over his peers. MAJOR: Reserved - Given his... "Darker undertones", Akihiko has become well-practiced in restraining himself from speaking unnecessarily. He is slow to reveal emotions or opinions - usually never if not asked - and holds knowledge back as a means to gaining an advantage. Consequently, unless one knows his weak points, prodding him to anger is a highly ineffective tactic. MAJOR: Empathetic - Despite his narcissistic and elitist nature, Akihiko can still understand the plights of others. More often than not though, this is about the sadness of the event - not any direct caring for those lower than himself. MINOR: Versatile - Always willing to try new things and, more importantly, learn new skills, Akihiko has amassed an admirable variety of skills, techniques, knowledge, and more. Beyond just the practical application of these, this manifests itself as a helpful and willing personality when it comes to aiding others. MINOR: Humane - Despite what some others might say about him, Akihiko has never intended undue harm on another. On the battlefield, he always spares others unless directly ordered to kill. In public, he doesn't attempt to shame or embarrass others without sufficient justification. Even on more mundane scale, he avoids unnecessary conflict - but isn't afraid to start some if it's needed.
Negative Traits PRIMARY: Narcissistic - Impeccably beautiful and otherwise perfect in his own eyes, the only thing that exceeds Akihiko's love for social advancement is his love for himself. Far beyond the point of simply admiring himself in the mirror, Akihiko habitually masturbates to himself. For a spiritual being, this results in a wicked cycle - with his excessive self-care, yes-man zanpakuto spirit, and a body that mirrors the way he thinks of himself, narcissism is something ingrained into his body and soul. MAJOR: Neurotic - With such a strong and self-reliant ego, it shouldn't be much surprise that Akihiko is incredibly anal. From the moment he wakes to the moment he falls asleep, everything must be perfectly orchestrated by him. Should something go against his plans, or worse - attack his ego, his cracks begin to show through. Even in common situations, he's much more anxious and reliant on his plans than most. Despite appearances, his facade is an incredibly fragile one. MAJOR: Elitist - Having raised himself up from nothing, Akihiko has a sick tendency to view others as lesser than himself. In more of a governmental sense, he believes that the Gotei needs a social class dedicated to ruling - one he wishes to join or create. MINOR: Machiavellian - When it comes to politics, Akihiko applies a different style of interaction than his typical kind-hearted guise. Recognizing that not every goal can be achieved lawfully or honestly, he has trained his skills in deception. Well-practiced in it, he is capable of making others think he’s being sincere with them. While a large use for this is stockpiling ammunition for his shikai power, he isn't adverse to using secrets - gained from people confiding in him - in backroom deals. MINOR: Dogmatic - Whether they’re valid or not, Akihiko holds to his ideals and opinions with a steel grip. Convincing him of something that goes contrary to his already held notions about it are nigh-impossible, short of beating it into him mere inches from death. The prime dogma for him is tradition: Akihiko is a firm believer in the olden ways of the Shinigami. He doesn’t see a single reason for the Gotei to deviate from what worked in the past and is still bitter over the destruction of the Central 46 and the removal of the powers of the nobility.
Personality Despite the impression he gives off, Akihiko’s personality is much more multifaceted than just that and his neuroticism and narcissism.
Beyond the almost-stern facade lies a hidden love for all things cute. He owns multiple “Kido pets” that mimic dogs, cats, hamsters, ferret, and more in his home. Sometimes he even makes visits to Earth just to visit dog kennels or other adoption centers with plenty of animals. Beyond just pets, he has an affinity for stuffed animals, particularly squishy cats. This is all kept very secret though.
In terms of other tastes, he quite enjoys reading books with dark and edgy villains or antiheroes. In general, he treats books and other entertainment mediums as escapist fantasy - some days spending hours alone diving into these other worlds.
His formative personality trait though is his status - he is an incredibly vain individual, basing his own and other's worth on things such as appearance, social standing and rank, and skill. Having risen up from next-to-nothing, he still reserves a shred of respect for those actively trying to improve themselves. That respect is not afforded for anyone he sees as a laze-about though - a title he applies to most.
Spirituality “Rummaging in our souls, we often dig up something that ought to have lain there unnoticed.” ― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
Inner Spirit and Inner World 追悼 Tsuitō (Remembrance)
Akihiko’s Zanpakuto Spirit, Tsuito, takes the form of a classical Japanese Shinto Miko. A young-looking woman with long black hair, she patiently attends the temple in his Inner World. Her role is to ensure the temple and its surrounding gardens remain in impeccable condition. Even while he isn’t inside the Inner World, she reassures Akihiko and steels his resolve. While she means well, she ultimately feeds into his narcissism, pride, and refusal to change his mind on any matter.
Surrounded on all sides by crashing waterfalls and lush gardens, Akihiko’s Inner World revolves around a simple Shinto temple. The temple itself is grand and extravagant, with a red, white, and black motif. The gardens surrounding it and the plants within are always in bloom. Between the gardens are pathways in the style of zen gardens, yet the stones seem to be constantly rearranging themselves.
Zanpakuto While in its initial form, Tsuito is a simple katana. Sharp and nearly as reflective as a mirror, it is encased in a simple black sheath embossed with the symbol of the Aizawa House.
与える, 追悼 Ataeru, Tsuito (Give, Tsuito)
Once released into it’s Shikai form, Tsuito extends to take the appearance of a classical Japanese nodachi. Heavy and long, it gives Akihiko the reach and power he needs in combat.
Akihiko’s Shikai ability allows him to force someone to remember something from their past, or something from his that they know of. By doing so, he can make them remember trauma and even re-suffer old wounds. The effect is instantaneous, as though they experienced it as a full dream in less than a nanosecond.
In order to use the ability on others with their own memories, he has to have at least heard of the event. Details aren’t important, as by forcing them to remember it, they’ll know them on their own. For instance, he can force someone to re-experience a torture session as long as he knows they’ve been in one. The vagueness can be as much as to see a scar and hear the word “Hollow” from them in order to make them go through the Hollow attack again.
This part of the ability is used much less often, but he can force people to experience memories from his own past - given they know of the event. They need to have a much more in-depth knowledge on it though and the effect is always lessened.
History “Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.” ― Haruki Murakami, Dance Dance Dance
Snapshots August 4th, 1900: Born in Tokyo, Japan. November 21st, 1916: Joins up to fight in WWI. February 13th, 1918: Discharged following injury by shrapnel. September 1st, 1923: Killed in the Great Kantō earthquake, awakens in Soul Society. May 7th, 2012: Joins the Shinigami Academy. April 16th, 2017: Graduates and joins the 1st Division.
Origin The man who would eventually come to be known as Akihiko Kaji was born in Tokyo on the 4th of August, 1900. The youngest of three brothers, his family was not poor and was not rich. Hideshi, his father, was a career soldier. Ayuko, his mother, was an accomplished artisan. His brothers Genta and Hitoshi were both considerably older than him and were both police officers.
Growing up, Akihiko had always wanted to follow in his mother's steps and learn crafts. His father and brothers though, had a different plan. They urged him to become a police officer, or at least join the military. Not wanting to disappoint, he reluctantly obliged and joined up immediately when he could. After a quick trip through Basic, he was thrown on a boat.Serving faithfully for 2 years, he met the end of his military service when his ship was struck with a torpedo and he was injured by shrapnel. After being sent home and resting for some months, he began training to become a police officer in his brother's footsteps.
Successfully graduating the Academy, he became an officer of the law and patrolled the streets of Tokyo. Then on one fateful day in 1923, the ground cracked open, buildings fell, and Akihiko was crushed.
On the 1st of September, he was born again. Waking in the 30th District of Soul Society, he found that he couldn't remember a thing about himself. For a decade or two he took odd jobs, snaking his way up the districts. By the time he'd gotten to the 20th, he'd discovered that he was quite skilled at detective work - so he began taking on jobs from concerned citizens. Around this time too, he discovered hunger. But as he drew closer to Seireitei, another hunger appeared. Every time that number ticked down he felt a new exhilaration upon seeing how life and wealth improved. Every few years he'd move up a district - buying fancier clothes, a new apartment, and better food.
By the time he reached the 10th, he saw himself in a new light. Every morning he'd observe himself in the mirror: high cheekbones, defined muscle, flawless skin, soft hair. With every district he cared less and less about his clients and more and more about himself.
When he'd arrived in the 5th, a new quality emerged. It was slight, but there was an aura surrounding him. As his clients became more and more influential, so did his reputation. Eventually he caught the eye of the Shinigami, who invited him to join the Academy. A step-up in social standing, he accepted.
While his pace was average at first, as the years went by his efficiency skyrocketed. By his 5th year, he was already excelling in every field with a slight bias towards Kido and Hakuda, and was immediately recommended for and joined the 1st Division. It was at this point that his narcissism evolved from mere self-admiration into over the top fantasies of himself.
Call to Action For years he simply completed the usual tasks of a 1st Division member. Slowly building the trust of his superiors and colleagues. He was present for the short rule of Kyousuke Tsukimiya, the slaughter of the Central 46, and the removal of the Noble Houses from any form of power. Ever since he'd awoken, he'd felt the call of Traditionalism - that the Soul Society ought to function as it always had. With these events, it stoked some hidden part of him. Deigning to use his skills to change the course of history, he aims for a return to course for the Gotei.
Stats, Skills, and Powers “Every artist was first an amateur.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
First Release: "与える, 追悼 Ataeru, Tsuito (Give, Tsuito)"
Effects Akihiko can use his Shikai Ability to force anyone to re-experience their own or his own past events, as well as any effects from them. (Wounds, usually.)
Description To do this, Akihiko requires at least vague knowledge of the event he wishes them to subject them to. This applies the other way around too, though his target would need a more comprehensive knowledge of his event. With that and his blessed past, this side of the ability is not often used.

Place in the World "Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative place where no one else has ever been." ― Alan Alda
This part isn't exactly a "prescribed" part of the formula so far, but I wanted to include a little bit here for each of my character concepts to just give a little exposition from my end as to why they would be a good addition to the campaign. Needless to say, my "compatibility blurbs" from before haven't exactly seemed to catch on. Therefore, these bits will be a lot more "selfish".
Interest has been expressed in exploring the aftermath of the fall of the nobility, etc. It should be pretty obvious this character is based almost entirely around that. Beyond just that though, I feel with his power he stands to stir things up far beyond the governmental structure of the Gotei.
While his ability of forcing others to re-experience memories and wounds is cool on a surface level, it stands to reason that doing so is a massive intrusion of "privacy" to the characters subjected to it. Were this character to be a part of the campaign, I'd love to see the reactions to and the consequences of the power.
It's undergone some substantial changes though, as Dante brought to my attention some things I wanted to change. Namely, what was originally his entire thing: Nobility. Some aspects of that still remain though, so I'd still love to explore that sort of thing.
P.S.: To anyone reading this wondering why I put so much effort into the design and everything: I was bored and wanted to practice my coding and design skills. (Please don't neck me, staff.)

Standard Record “Clever as the Devil and twice as pretty.” ― Holly Black, White Cat
Name: Fionn MacGallagher Age: 20 Gender: Male Height & Weight: 5'11"/180.34cm & 150lbs/69kg Hair & Eye Color: Red and green. Sexuality: Bisexual Racial Background: Irish Blood Status: Mixed / Gemischt Loyalties: Fionn's current loyalties lie to himself only, but he puts on the facade that he is allied with the Quincy Order.
Physiology "It takes more than just a good looking body. You've got to have the heart and soul to go with it." ― Epictetus
Physical Description Fionn stands mere centimeters shy of 6 feet, something that irritates him considerably. On all papers and to everyone he meets however, he ensures that he tells them 6 feet - so in the end it's unnoticeable unless he's standing next to someone that tall themselves. At 150 pounds he does not strike an imposing figure. Supple and lean, those who have seen his body have been surprised by how much muscle he has. While no monster of body-builder proportions, Fionn's Hollow hunting keeps him in the shape needed for that line of work anyway. He also mountain bikes in his free time and enjoys the occasional hike. He has a fast metabolism and often eats fast food and candy while at home. In public, he abides to a strict diet of seafood and vegetables. He smokes cigarettes, but only in private and at home. One of his biggest struggles of getting rid of the stench.
In terms of posture, he stands very straight when in any of his various disguises or in public. Likewise, he sits all the way back in chairs and shows proper customs when sitting at tables - such as keeping elbows off of tables and never putting his feet up on things, even footrests. At home however, he adores slouching and has a habit of popping his fingers, neck, spine, left knee, and left shoulder which is double-jointed.
Though he loathes to do so, he shaves every morning. He wishes he could grow a large red beard - something he's fully capable of, but disallowed from doing in order to look correct in his priestly disguises. His hair is soft and has a nice sheen, and he showers every other day to keep it so. He uses strawberry shampoo & conditioner and Irish Spring body soap. It reaches well past his shoulders, though he often has it tied up behind his head or pushed into a hat if the occasion calls for it. He also carries a bald cap for when any of his religious disguises require a shaved head. He has pierced ears and wears captive bead earrings - one red and one green.
His eyes are a bright emerald-green, though some have said they look blue from far away. His scleras are often slightly bloodshot from staying up late. His eyelashes are longer than average and make his eyes look a little feminine, so he occasionally trims them with scissors. His eyebrows are dark red and have a sharp downturn at the end. There is a natural notch on the right one.
After many battles with Hollows, he's racked up a number of scars. There are 3 long claw marks on his back, diagonally. There is a vertical scar down right triceps and a horizontal one across his left knee. He also has a small scar on his chin from falling as a child, but it is right under the turn of his chin and only visible from below. Lastly, he has a scar on his left index finger from a time he "accidentally" sliced his finger off as a child. He actually has a number of tattoos: a Celtic triangle on his right shoulder-blade, an Ouroboros on the back of his right thigh, and a four-leaf clover on the back of his right ear where his mother would playfully grab him.
His voice is not too deep and not too high, but does raise considerably when talking fast. His voice also cracks when talking too fast, so he speaks very deliberately. Like many, he thinks his voice is deeper than it really is and dislikes listening to recordings of himself. He also somewhat mumbles when talking to family and friends.
While fighting Hollows and other spiritual beings, Fionn wears a custom-made Quincy uniform in the standard style - except with wine-red accents in place of the normal blue. The inner layer of the clothes also feature this same wine-red color.
While relaxing or not "on the job" either killing hollows or doing faith-healings, he wears a dark blue suit with a white shirt underneath.
His main attire though is any of his many disguises. Catholic priest, Jewish rabbi, Islamic imam, and far more.
At home, he wears T-shirts of the bands he enjoy listening to - mostly pop-punk. The only things he always wears are a passed-down Tissot 1938 single-button chronograph with two-tone dial watch and a too-small titanium ring on his right pinky finger from an ex-girlfriend on the Isle of Man. He sometimes wears a four-leaf clover necklace with a black cord.
Spiritual Description Fionn’s reiatsu takes on a wine color, a dark mix of red and purple. It gives off a slight malaise - the feeling that something’s not quite right. Its aura around him moves in a calm ebb and flow.
Psychology “La plus belle des ruses du diable est de vous persuader qu'il n'existe pas." ― Charles Baudelaire, Paris Spleen
Positive Traits Charming: Over the years, Fionn has mastered putting on different disguises as well using his own natural charm to get people on his side. From his sharp, angular face and strong jaw line to his exhaustive knowledge of nearly all religions and folk customs, he is a master at getting people on his good side. Driven: Perhaps caused partly by his paranoia, Fionn is determined to find and uncover the "evil lurking beneath the surface" of not only the Quincy Order, but Soul Society and Hueco Mundo - and even the entire spiritual world order. Apathetic: Fionn, while not a psychopath, has very few emotions - particularly about others. He doesn't get caught up by relationships or anything else. He thinks of people as pawn pieces and the most he'll feel for the majority of people is annoyance at losing the opportunity to use them.
Negative Traits Amoral: Despite his priestly façade, Fionn holds nothing to be sacred. He's completely irreligious and amoral. He does not recognize normal moral boundaries, and will do whatever it takes to reach his goals. Torture, murder, deceit, and betrayal are all just tools to be used. Deceitful: If one word could define Fionn, this would be it. A master of disguise and a pathological liar, any who know of his tricks trust few of his words. He shares his true backstory and personality with only a select few, and often lies for no good reason about just about everything. Hypocritical: To Fionn, the rules only apply to others. He's quick to get infuriated at those that break rules, whether they be from some organization or a set cultures "moral standards" - despite breaking every last one in the shadows. And all the while, none of it bothers him. Paranoid: Intensely distrustful, Fionn innately believes everyone is out to get him. Caused by his mistreatment as a child, he finds it difficult to believe that something is just the way it is. He's convinced that everyone and every organization is hiding some dark secret from him.
Personality On the surface and to anyone else at first, Fionn is a virtuous man of [insert religion here]. Even when he's not pretending to be a priest, he presents himself as kind and always willing to help. He tries to appear as a dignified gentleman of good taste and often studies the places he travels to appear more knowledgeable about any given place. When speaking to others, he quickly begins to act more like them - claiming to like the things they like and have the same hobbies and even jobs. Some people catch him there, but he's quick to dismiss it as them imagining it.
Fionn has a deeply flawed personality, perhaps even with few redeeming qualities. His main personality trait is his deceitful nature, he gets a high just from deceiving people. He feels slight relief from lying, even about things that are trivial and unimportant. He barely sees others as people, preferring to see them as containers of money or toys to be played with. When someone manages to see through one of his façades, he becomes quick to anger and aggressive.
He firmly believes in the Spiritual World, having seen and killed Hollows himself. He is highly distrustful of every aspect of it however and holds the perhaps-irrational view that something must be behind the scenes turning cogs. He holds no moral judgements against any of the races or worlds, but recognizes hollows as a danger to Earth. He differs dramatically from the standard Quincy worldview because of his unorthodox upbringing.
Spirituality “To care about your outward appearance is important, but what’s more important is to have a beautiful soul.” ― Roy T. Bennett
Schrift P - “The Paradox”
Fionn’s Schrift represents the gap between his power’s apparent benevolent ability of healing, and it’s true effect of merely transferring damage to someone else. It also represents his occupation of deceiving people into thinking he’s a priest come to heal them, yet he’s really just come to take their money and ends up healing them in the process.
Power Fionn’s unique power is healing, or more accurately, transferring wounds from one person to another. There several drawbacks with the initial release however, including: He cannot heal himself with this power. All wounds, diseases, etc. are transferred to someone else. (Typically a random normal human.) He cannot choose who will be the receiver. Fionn takes a small percentage of damage “healed”, excluding diseases and similar conditions. (OOC: Will handle mechanics after app acceptance, likely will involve charges and moving down by a set # of wound ranks.)
Quincy Cross Representing his early life, before any of the hardships caused by his father, Fionn’s Quincy Cross is a small wooden four-leaf clover that he carved for himself as a child. He’s since lacquered it, and keeps it in good condition. He keeps it around his neck on a silver chain.
Spirit Weapon Fionn's spirit weapon comes in the form of a simple, old Irish longsword. The sword as a whole is about 150cm, of which 25cm is the grip.
In accordance with his Catharsis ability, anyone stabbed or touched with any part of the weapon can be healed by Fionn's power.
Origin Fionn was born in Ireland, north of Limerick at the MacGallagher family farm. Buried deep in a forest, Fionn’s early life was extremely isolated. His earliest memories are of his mother - Nessa MacGallagher - taking him on longs walks through the forest, past flowing streams and crashing waterfalls. To this day, he still fondly remembers the pungent smell of the wet earth by their home and his joy at picking four-leaf clovers.
Being so isolated, Fionn’s only hobbies were exploring the forest surrounding their farm and collecting four-leaf clovers, and reading the books that his mother would bring back for him on her trips to the city. His first few years were blissful, carefree and filled with plenty of dirt for the child to play in. His mother even taught him how to carve 4 leaf clovers out of wood. This all lasted uninterrupted until his fifth birthday.
The day after he turned five, his stern and silent father - Niall MacGallagher - took him by the arm and led him through the forest to an old bunker. The archaic structure was clearly a remnant from a bygone time, moss covering the cracked concrete. His father led him inside, to find a sprawling complex filled with rooms dedicated to different kinds of spiritual training and learning. His father, Niall, revealed to Fionn the true nature of the world. He taught him of the Shinigami, the Quincy, the Hollows, and much more.
In Niall’s teaching were seeds of his ideology however, and as such Fionn was raised from a young age to hold unorthodox views for a Quincy. He was taught to distrust other Quincy, and was never given lessons on the “evils” of Soul Society or Hueco Mundo. In additions to these lessons, his father also gave him another: suffering.
Fionn’s father had long been a victim of mental illness and an abuser of drugs. This led to random bouts of intense violence, taken out on Fionn or his mother. On several occasions, Niall nearly killed Fionn - who grew to hate his father for this. While they didn't stem from hatred from his family on Niall's part, Fionn was wholly incapable of seeing them as something not his fault or at least out of his father's hands.
These unpredictable beatings instilled new, negative things in Fionn. He adopted a number of new personality traits and habits. He became a pathological liar. He began hiding things and deceiving his parents. For awhile, he developed anger issues of his own. He began to take things out on his mother, as a way of offloading his pain onto her. He also gained some hard-line opinions on drugs and their users. He even became intensely paranoid, of his family and of the world. While he hated his father, his lessons about the various factions of the spiritual world fueled Fionn's paranoia.
When not being trained by his father, Fionn took lessons from his mother. She taught him languages, such as English and Irish Gaelic. He was homeschooled in more traditional things as well, such as math and history. In his free time, Fionn would read books on religion, history, and language.
At age 8, Fionn’s Quincy powers awakened and his training to control them began in earnest. Despite his hatred for his father, he quickly learned new techniques and grew his power. He soon discovered his power: the ability to heal others. Unbeknownst to Fionn at first however, was that all the damage or disease he healed were actually transferred to someone else. In the following years, he explored the extent of his power - learning its limitations and its true nature.
As the years passed and he grew, both in age and in strength, Fionn also became more and more bitter and deceitful. When he was allowed to travel to the city, he would steal and vandalize. He would trick old women into giving him money by slathering dirt on himself and coming up with stories of ill siblings.
Shortly after he turned 11, his father left for Japan on an “official Quincy summons”. He never returned. While his mother Nessa was heartbroken, Fionn was overjoyed. No longer would he be lorded over or beaten down. He began his own training regimen, utilizing everything within his father’s bunker to expand on his own powers. He healed his mother’s broken heart with his powers, raising her spirits.
His mother soon enrolled him in a Catholic school designed to groom children for priesthood. While Fionn never believed any of the religious teaching he was given because of his knowledge of the spiritual world, he absorbed everything he was taught. He learned countless hymns, prayers, and blessings.
He would escape from the school on the weekends, going home to home in a priest outfit - claiming to be a “son of god” come to heal their ills. While he was usually turned away, he was sometimes allowed in. The boy would heal people with “prayers and god’s touch”, and then request a donation. He would then go spend this money, almost hypocritically, on cigarettes. He quickly adopted this as his new, hidden hobby.
At age 14, his mother had begun to run out of money and they had to move to the Isle of Man - where her own parents owned a meager home. Soon after arriving, Fionn begun to make his “faith-healing” outings into a more serious job. He crafted more elaborate stories, and even learned to trick people into thinking they were sick when they weren’t in the first place. He also began a short relationship with a girl on the island, one that left a lasting impact on him because it was real compared to his later ones. The relationship ended when Fionn got angry and hit her during an argument.
Fionn’s thirst for his Quincy powers to grow was quenched when on one of his visits, he discovered an archaic old man whom he healed. The man had been a Quincy when he was younger and had recognized Fionn’s faith-healing for what they really were. He soon became Fionn’s new mentor. The old man would go on to forge out some of the damage left in Fionn from his father Niall. He was able to teach him to calm his anger issues, and he also taught him new Quincy skills.
While the old man was unable of fighting Hollows in his fairly advanced age, he taught Fionn what he needed to know to destroy them himself - which he soon did for the first time at age 15. After this, Fionn began a crusade across the island - destroying every Hollow he found and keeping an eye peeled for new ones. This continued for 2 more years, until Fionn’s healing powers weren’t enough to keep his mentor alive.
Call to Action At 17 years old, Fionn had saved enough money from his healing to strike into the world. Leaving his family behind, he boarded a ship to France. He quickly learned the language and applied himself to his faith-healings. After a few months, he went to Italy. And then to Germany. Then to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia and more. After years of traveling, learning new languages, new religions, forging new licenses to go with his disguises, and slaying hollows, he arrived in far-off Japan.
Stats, Skills, and Powers
First Release: "Catharsis"
Effects Fionn’s unique power is healing, or more accurately, transferring wounds from one person to another.
Description There are several drawbacks with the initial release however, including: He cannot heal himself with this power. All wounds, diseases, etc. are transferred to someone else. (Typically a random normal human.) He cannot choose who will be the receiver. Fionn takes a small percentage of damage “healed”, excluding diseases and similar conditions.

Place in the World While I think Fionn stands on his own as a character to some extent, a lot of what made him good in my eyes before was fairly bound to the old way of playing. While his healing ability can certainly still be used for pusing more personal plots, his nature as a con man and a highly inquisitively paranoid person can fuel more than just "let me heal you" threads.
With his less than standard views, I think it'd be nice to see how he keeps his actions secret from the other Quincy - and should his inevitable treachery come to light, how he'd come to blows with the others.

Physical Description Like other spiritual beings, Haku’s appearance is nearly completely decided by his self-perception. As someone who spent the majority of their existence in utter darkness, all most every part of Haku is a bright white. Pale skin. Paper-white hair. White attire. The only part of his body that defies this motif are his pinkish-red eyes that peer out from under his moppy bangs.
At a meager 5 foot 7, Haku is dwarfed by most other Arrancar. From first glance he seems weak - shrimpy arms attached to an almost sickly-looking torso. In the physically offensive power regard, this analysis holds true. Yet Haku has trained his body to be as durable as can be. More often than it is spiritually reinforced, but even on it’s own his small body can resist many blows.
In terms of posture, he doesn’t hold himself to any standards. Often found lurched over or slouched, he cares little for what others think of his appearance. In general, he often looks tired - almost like a piece of paper that’s been trampled.
For outfit, he generally doesn’t care enough to personalize them. He wears the standard arrancar attire, save for the rare occasion he decides to don more human-like attire - at which point he’ll wear white jeans with a white parka.
Spiritual Description Calm and mellow, Haku’s reiatsu gives off no feelings other than serenity - assuredness. It is colored a pure white, slowly ebbing back and forth in waves.
Positive Traits Kind: A doctor at heart, Haku truly cares for his patients - that same level of concern and care extends to anyone though. While his position and allegiance often leads him to conflict with people he views as innocent, he doesn't become needlessly cruel with them as others might. Remorseful: Unlike most of his kind, Haku does not wish to be a hollow. Ever since he has become one, he has vowed to never devour a human soul - only other hollows. In fact, he wishes greatly to move on from his existence as one. While he’s keenly aware of one route out - death, he denies that easy route. Instead, he aims to find a way to evolve further and past his hollow nature through science.
Neutral Traits Curious: With all his newfound free-time and resources, Haku has become increasingly interested in fields of science beyond the medicine he studied in life. While the practical knowledge he learned while living was lost in the death process, the same fervent curiosity has survived. Wise: Having spent many of his living decades as a wizened teacher, sharing knowledge and amassing wisdom over the years is a core part of his soul. Despite the young exterior of his new body, that same wisdom has found itself reborn in him.
Negative Traits Impatient: After so many centuries of slow growth, Haku's soul has grown tired. No longer does he wish to spend centuries at a time pursuing goals. He is capable of recognizing his talents and aims to apply them to get results immediately. Doubting: While as a scientist and doctor Haku is incredibly prone to fact-checking things, his doubtful personality goes far beyond that: he has an odd compulsion to deny things. Whether it be his own test results, his current existence, or even reality itself, he always finds a way to deny them. Striving for excellence and supreme knowledge, he is quick to refuse to accept things that seem obvious or proven true as a given or even true.
Personality A far cry from the typical "mad scientist" one might envision for an arrancar so invested in the sciences, Haku is actually more similar to most humans and shinigami. Kind, remorseful, and willing to help others, he is so much of a "good two shoes" that it leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of his fellow hollows. Worse yet, he has decided to only prey on hollows. While killing shinigami is part of his job description, he finds no pleasure in slaughtering non-hollows.
Science is Haku's primary hobby and concern. While in life he practiced medicine, in death that commitment has shifted over to the hard sciences. Researching matters of the soul, dissecting hollows and "guilty" shinigami alike, and inventing tools. Most days he can found in the laboratory, toiling away on some top-secret project he's been tasked with by the ruler of Las Noches. Despite the long hours, the work is the only thing that Haku finds valuable in his near-immortal hollow life. His penultimate goal is finding a way to cure himself of his hollow plight through scientific means.
Aspect of Death: Denial
Hollow Power Haku’s Hollow Power allows him to deny others access to their releases. Aside from a few limitations, this power is indiscriminate. For one, as long as this ability is active Haku is barred from using his 2nd and 3rd releases. (Should he have them.) Secondly, 1st releases can be barred for any number of targets, 2nd releases can be barred for up to 3 people, and 3rd releases can be barred for a single person.
Sealed Zanpakutō Dead and cold like every other Arrancar’s Zanpakutō, Haku’s takes the form of a Wakizashi with a pure white grip. The sword is held in a white scabbard, though the blade’s appearance is unknown to even Haku - the sword has never been drawn before and anyone else who tries to draw the sword finds it sealed in the scabbard as though it were in concrete.
Origin Born in the final winter days of 1480, Haku awoke to a black world. Suffering from congenital cataracts, his world was explored with touch, taste, sound, and smell. The son of nobles, his condition made him immediately illegitimate as an heir. By nature of his birth he was not simply abandoned - instead being raised by a likewise blind practitioner of medicine by the name of Aguri Kuchiki.
Aguri rose Haku on a shore by the forests to the far north. A recluse, the old man had never had a family of his own and adopting Haku had brought a new light into his life. Poor and with little to his name, Aguri taught Haku everything that he had learned over the course of his life. In his formative years, he taught Haku how to walk with a cane, how to count the sounds of a stone skipping over water, and the smells and sounds of the forest, snow, and sea.
As he became older, Haku was taught how to tell different plants apart by smell and taste. After that he was shown how to grind, mix, and boil ingredients to make various curatives and medicine. As he became more aware of himself, Haku began to throw himself into this. Completely unwilling to give up because of how he was born, he spent years learning everything the old man had to teach him.
At the age of 20, Haku had successfully learned everything the man could teach him and had also learned how to survive as a blind person. Aguri brought him before the court, begging them to allow Haku to undertake a journey to China to learn more modern medicinal practices. As a reward for Aguri’s long and faithful service to them, as well as Haku’s noble birth, they allowed this - funding the expedition. Shortly after, Haku packed his meagerly-filled bags and bid his father farewell.
After a nearly week long boat ride, Haku first stepped foot into the Great Ming Empire. Soon after, he found himself lodged at the greatest medicinal academy in China. The Nanjing-based university held many prospective students of all Asian races, but more importantly - the greatest masters of the craft during the age. For the next decade Haku studied there, only causing moderate trouble with his very independent views.
By 1510, Haku graduated despite his denial of the mastery of his teachers. Shipped back to Japan, he soon arrived in Kyoto to find his adoptive father had passed away. Stricken with grief, he moved out to the cottage by the shore to live in seclusion for 3 long years. Surviving with sustenance farming, he passed the time praying and practicing his medicine on the nobles in the city who would pay for him to. After the three years and his grief had passed, he set out to a burgeoning town on the other side of Japan - Tokyo.
While in Tokyo, he met with an older gentleman - Tashirō Sanki. Sanki was also a graduate from the same university as Haku. Recognizing the man’s genius, Haku implored him to take him on as an apprentice. Sanki refused however, citing Haku’s lack of practical experience and skill. Unwilling to accept no for an answer, Haku spent the next year practitioning for the Edo nobility and even the common folks. At the end of 1514, Haku returned to Sanki and begged him for mentorship. This time, he was accepted and they began a short journey to Koga - where Sanki practiced.
Over the next 7 years, they practiced medicine and pioneered new techniques. Experimenting with new plants, procedures, and surgeries, Haku’s wealth of knowledge steadily expanded until he himself could be considered a master of the art. As their skill levels came closer and closer, Haku found himself constantly rebuffed by Sanki for carelessness and impatience. Finally fed up with it, Haku left his tutelage in the summer of 1521. Traveling north to Sendai, Haku opened his own small school of medicine at the age of 41.
An older gentleman himself now, Haku had become a respected master of the art. Within months, he had found 5 young students eager to learn from him. Funded by the local lords, he showed his students the basics of what he had learned: primarily, the study of various herbs. He taught their applications, common locations, poisons and potions that could made from them, and much more. As the years passed, his small building became filled with rudimentary labs constantly fuming with burning herbs. While Haku was successful as a teacher, his prideful and doubting nature rubbed his students the wrong way. The eldest and most respected of his students, Riku, demanded that the academy be handed over to him.
Unable to accept this, Haku shut the academy down after 26 longs years. At the age of 67, he had decided that he’d had enough of human contact and embarked on the journey that would take many of his remaining years to accomplish.
In the winter of 1550, Haku found himself visited by an odd woman. Wearing black robes and carrying a small child, she begged him for help. While he had never known if she knew who he he was, he quickly diagnosed the child and created a cure for her ailment. And just as soon as she had came, she left without a word. Unknown to Haku though, the woman had been a Shinigami - and a potently powerful one at that. Her overbearing presence had woken something in his soul, the last dredges of power from a previous life perhaps. While it gave him no mystical powers, not any his old body could handle at the least, it gifted him with a rudimentary form of sight. While it couldn’t be considered vision by any stretch, it give him a better sense of direction and the faint ability to sense others and solid objects around him.
For the next decade, Haku wandered and honed this new sense. Heading north, he visited the Ainu before heading south along the west coast of Japan. Stopping to visit every village, he continued to practice medicine while pursuing a new passion: Science in a more general sense. Using his newfound “sight”, he found he could craft things - invent things. Along with this, he took a more keen interest in surgery. After many years, he found himself in the city of Kyoto once more. While the old nobility had since died and passed onto the next generation, his name was still renowned. He was invited by the Emperor to practice science and medicine for his court.
Reluctantly, Haku accepted his offer. Setting up shop in the palace, he immediately got to work inviting masters of science to his workshop. Mathematicians, engineers, artists, and more came from near and far to trade knowledge with the old herbalist. He even took on apprentices, albeit for a short time each.
On one fateful day though, his old body failed him. While creating medication for one of the Emperor’s sons, Haku accidentally switched the amounts of certain ingredients and as a result, the prince died. In utter denial, he refused to believe that he could have made a mistake. Forced to commit seppuku, Haku refused. When he refused, he was beheaded. With this, the mortal chapter of his life was brought to a close.
Denying that his life could come to end over something so simple as a perceived mistake, Haku became a Jibakurei - a vengeful ghost bound to the palace. For 4 years, he haunted the palace and became a local legend. At the end of the 4th year however, his Chain of Fate reached it’s last link. In moments, Haku transformed from the ghost of a bitter old man into a raging Hollow. Unlike most hollow would, Haku did not immediately rampage. While the semblance of intelligence he retained was poor, something drove him to return to his shack by the sea.
After so long without an owner, the shack had long fallen into pieces. A rather small hollow, Haku merely fit himself into the corpse of it and slept. For half a century he slept undisturbed. With each year though, something in the center of his soul grew and grew - a hunger. Every time he denied it, denied his nature, it grew. By 1627 that hunger was impossible to ignore. With the slight intelligence he still had, he knew that eating common souls was not what he wanted to do. Unsure of quiet how he did it, he split open a portal to Hueco Mundo and entered.
For many years he subsisted on merely the air of Hueco Mundo, eaking out a meager and pitiful life as one of the unarguably weakest hollows. Ridiculed for his reluctance to eat humans and pluses, his only meals came by the decade when he could find a Hollow weaker than himself.
This pitiful life characterized by his denial of his own nature stretched on until the middle of the 17th century. Completely outmatched in power, he found himself devoured by a Gillian - soon becoming lost within the swirling mass of souls.
It would take until 1803 until Haku’s consciousness took a hold of the Gillian. Perhaps driven by a need to take ahold of his fate, his fundamental personality changed as he vowed to reverse his “poor luck” through force of will. As soon as he was in control, he immediately set the Gillian on the course of devouring other Hollows - culminating in the cannibalization of another Gillian in 1906, causing Haku to evolve into an Adjuchas.
His newfound will would be faced with it’s first challenge soon though. A mere 8 years after becoming an Adjuchas, he had a chunk of his left leg bitten out by another hollow. Unbeknownst to Haku, this sealed his fate to remain as an Adjuchas. Completely unaware of this, he spent the next century desperately trying to complete his evolution into what he saw as the perfect being - a Vasto Lorde.
Call to Action Yet this was not to be. As the decades dragged on, it became ever more clear that he was never going to become one. This was simply unacceptable to Haku. He denied it. There was nowhere he could not go with his willpower. With every passing year the anger and depression inside him grew. Finally in 2014, the suffering became too much for him to handle. Slamming his head desperately into a rock, his mask shattered and he transformed into an Arrancar.
Stumbling to Las Noches, he collapsed in the halls. After recovering, he found himself immediately embroiled with all manners of scientific pursuits. Much to the ire and scorn of his fellows though, he still holds himself to strict ideals. Aside from not eating innocent non-hollow souls, he only experiments on enemies of the state.

Place in the World Might be more apparent here than in the other concepts, but my mind was a little hazy writing this one. Some parts are too long, like the history, some too short, like the personality, and mostly written fairly poorly. With all things of course, it's much easier to get a grasp on a character after you've written it. So for this one, I'll be riding on my other character's or my own personality whatnot. I do quite like him as an idea myself though.
For instance, I think his power - while simple - can do a lot in the character interaction arena. On top of that, I'd love to see where his 2nd and 3rd releases would go - as well as where he'd go as a character. I tried hard to really focus the character on Denial. While I feel like I likely missed the mark on that by some distance, I'd be confident that I'd be able to write him much closer to that goal. After these "apps" I can really see the cracks in that department of my writing shining through.
